Lita to appear on 'Dark Angel'
by Phil Speer
We already know that Lita is one of the most dynamic superstars in the World Wrestling Federation, but what would she be like as an actress? We'll soon find out.
The former Federation Women's Champion has been offered, and has accepted, a role on the season finale of "Dark Angel," the hit sci-fi series starring Jessica Alba. It's scheduled to air Friday, May 3, on FOX.
Interview with Chris Jericho
by Matt Duda
MONTREAL - Less than 24 hours after losing the World Wrestling Federation Undisputed Championship, Chris Jericho talked to WWF.com about his WrestleMania match with Triple H, his championship tenure and more.
WWF.com: What are your thoughts about your reign as the first-ever Undisputed Champion?
Y2J: I'm happy with it. Some things turned out good, some things could have turned out better. But I'm proud of what I did as a heel champion and I'm looking forward to my second reign as the Undisputed Champion.
WWF.com: Can you talk about some of the baggage that comes with being the Federation Champion?
Y2J: There's probably a little more pressure. It's the most important accolade or award that can be bestowed upon you. The guys that are lower on the card look up to you. You have to make sure that you kick ass all the time and I think I did that. I think I did well.
WWF.com: Did you have any hesitation about dropping the title in Canada?
Y2J: None at all. I'd lose in the backyard of my mom's house if they set up a ring back there. The only thing that matters is putting on a great match and entertaining the fans.
WWF.com: How hard is it to do RAW the day after such a huge WrestleMania?
Y2J: It's very hard. For WrestleMania we put so many months of planning and preparations. The next day you just feel burned out. But we just have to get going again and get back in the swing of things.
WWF.com: What's next for Chris Jericho?
Y2J: I'm going to continue to be the best I can and use my experience as a wrestler to take it to the next level. It was good to become the champ. In this industry it doesn't get higher than that. I've accomplished and attained every goal I wanted to. I'm going to continue to continue on the right path to set myself to become the champion again. But I'm happy. If I retired tomorrow I'd still be happy. It's kind of like the Stanley Cup. You can win the championship once and never again for the rest of your life and be fine with it just because you had it that once.
Beginning March 31, Lita will be in Vancouver, British Columbia, filming the episode. It's her first acting role outside of a few commercials.
"I don't know what I'm getting myself into," Lita joked in a telephone interview Friday with WWF.com. "I'm excited to try to do it."
The season finale has already created a buzz in the entertainment industry because it'll be directed by James Cameron, best known for directing one of the most successful movies ever, "Titantic." The film won 11 Academy Awards, including Best Director. It'll be the television-directing debut for Cameron, who is co-creator and executive producer of "Dark Angel."
The script is still being written; Lita is set to play a bad-ass named Thula. Rumor has it that she will be involved in a complex fight scene with a male cast member. It has been said that the scene itself will take about three days to film.
The entire episode will take 10 days, meaning Lita will miss two week's worth of Federation television -- and she'll be missing a historic time in Federation: just after the brand extension.
"Once I get filming, I'll probably be so busy that I won't be thinking about it," Lita said. "But it's kind of strange to think about it now. I'm sure I'll be calling people (at the arenas) and going, 'What's going on?'
"Vancouver seems like a cool city. It's supposed to be the L.A. of Canada. I have two days off when I'm up there so I'm actually excited to explore."
Lita is also scheduled for another acting role. Next Thursday, she'll film a commercial for Stacker 2. She says her only hope is that her Stacker 2 spot can be anywhere near as good as Kane's, which she found hilarious. It's not the first commercial Lita has appeared in; she has already done a few for the new TNN and one for Chef Boyardee.
